5 Events for Highly Sensitive Persons
Highly sensitive persons (or HSPs) are easily overstimulated by lights, sounds, and emotional intensity. This means events with large crowds, loud noises, and flashing lights are not ideal for HSPs. Often, introverts and HSPs are considered the same, but introverts crave solitude, whereas HSPs are sensitive to stimulation. We’ve put together a list of five wellness events that are friendly to HSPs.
1. Sound Baths
By creating various tones of quiet, humming noises, sound baths cause relaxation. For HSPs, low sensory input is important, which is why the tranquil nature of a sound bath can create a much-needed sense of calm.
2. Aromatherapy
For HSPs who respond well to gentle, controlled stimulation, aromatherapy is a good choice. By using naturally calm scents, the practice can bring about intense relaxation.
3. Stretching and Recovery
Typically small and low-intensity, stretching classes are a great option for HSPs who are seeking movement without sensory anxieties.
4. Nature Walks
Ideal for anyone looking to get outdoors, nature walks provide fresh air and peaceful, low-stimulation sounds. Heading for a walk early in the morning or visiting low-traffic areas can add a layer of serenity.
5. Art Workshops
Art provides HSPs an outlet to express emotion or feeling without the pressure to verbalize it. Additionally, these spaces are often calm and quiet in nature, perfect for those sensitive to loud noises and crowds.
For HSPs, the key isn’t being alone, but rather finding wellness activities with less stimulation. Although wellness looks different for everyone, anyone can have their cup filled.
