Signs You Need a Reset
We've all experienced a time where nothing feels quite right. You're tired even after sleeping, irritable over small things and going through the motions with little motivation. This isn't always burnout, but your body and mind signaling that something needs to change. It’s important to learn to recognize these signs early so you can reset.
The first sign is usually fatigue that sleep doesn't fix. If you're getting 7-8 hours but still waking up drained, it's often less about quantity and more about quality. Stress, screen time before bed or an irregular schedule can all interfere with how restorative your sleep actually is.
Another sign is a diminished tolerance for things that used to feel manageable. Small annoyances start to feel bigger, and you feel more reactive than usual. This is often a sign that your nervous system is overloaded and could use some intentional downtime.
You might also notice a loss of interest in things you normally enjoy. Hobbies feel like chores, socializing feels draining rather than energizing, and everything starts to blur into routine.
So what does a reset actually look like? It doesn't have to mean a dramatic life overhaul. Start small:
Take a full day (or even just an afternoon) with no obligations or screens
Get outside. A walk in nature does more for mental clarity than most people expect
Reconnect with someone you've been meaning to check in on
Declutter one small space to create a sense of order
Go to bed an hour earlier than usual for a few nights in a row

The goal isn't to fix everything at once. It's to interrupt the pattern that's been running on autopilot and permit yourself to slow down. And the earlier you catch the signs, the easier it is to come back to yourself.
